A note for future me: don’t smile so much.
Smiling too much was actually a big problem throughout the whole thing… but that’s beside the point. I’m so excited about this video– it’s the biggest collaboration I’ve ever had!
The song itself has been in progress for months. Writing lyrics were a huge part of the problem since– I had been wanting to do a gender reversed project for so long– the lyrics needed to be familiar, stereotypical and serious (in addressing the gender issue), yet still light hearted enough where people can get a good laugh… how do you start something like that? I throughly played with the idea/concept for weeks. The solution I look for would often come to me at odd hours in the morning, usually right before I fall asleep. This project was no exception.
Even though I’m not 100% pleased with the final version of the song, I figured it was either shoot it now or let it forever be unheard on my computer.
One thing I found especially challenging was the amount of guys. It was hard for me to believe that these people would take time out their weekend schedule to help me film! And semi-pamper me! (The real massage, nail polishing and shoe tying was all enjoyable.) For the future, I’ll need to be more assertive both in my presence and expressing my vision. Watch out world, tiger lady’s getting ready! Grrr.
Anyway, the media could use a little different spice once a while! And maybe this is the right type of spice! Of course, I’m still operating under the norm (heterosexual) so I’m doing nothing *particularly* new…
I hope that some people can see my video and enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed making it!
